Reading Stars Project: Building a Mini-Library
Literacy is the doorway to confidence, health, and opportunity. On World Literacy Day, members of Soroptimist International Bangalore (Sudha Manandi, Revathi, Maneka, and Anita Belagodu ) visited Siddapura Government School, Varthur Road, to support young learners through education and care.

📚 Reading Stars Project: Building a Mini-Library
To bridge learning gaps and spark a love for reading, we set up a dedicated library space featuring:
200 Books: A curated mix of storybooks, comics, and encyclopedias in Kannada and English.
Interactive Engagement: Festive storytelling around Ganesha festival, encouragement from our team, and treat boxes for the primary students.
Sustained Effort: This is school 1 of 5 planned mini-libraries across local government schools.

👁️ Health & Vision Screening
Partnering with the Lions Club, a team of four ophthalmologists conducted vision checks on-site: 300 Students Screened: Identified a child in need of corrective glasses for better classroom learning.
Community Focus: Extended screenings to mothers attending the event.

🌍 Supporting the UN SDGs
SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being): Preventive vision screenings for students and mothers.
SDG 4 (Quality Education): Providing accessible, bilingual learning resources.
SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Collaboration between SI Bangalore, Lions Club, and local schools.
